Does God Sleep?
Does God Sleep?
Because I don't.
I toss and turn
I stew and mull
I fixate and ruminate
Does God sleep?
Because I don't
I can't
Its because of the cold
you see
Its cold in my city tonight
There are 90 people in my city tonight
who are without homes trying to sleep on cardboard
on my city streets tonight
Does God sleep?
Because I don't
I can't
Its the overdoses
you see
People just keep dying on me
no matter what we keep trying
they are all just dropping
their hearts slowing then stopping
Does God sleep?
Because I don't.
I can't.
Its my kids
you see
I'm afraid they're going to grow up
afraid
ashamed
with low self esteem
have you seen snapchat?
or the stats?
about depression and technology
everyone is so frigg'n lonely
suicides are on the rise
Does God sleep?
Because I don't.
I can't.
Its the graves you see
Around the school yards
no school should have graveyards
Does God sleep?
Because I don't
I can't
Its because of the warmth
you see
The earth is warming now
there are floods and mud slides killing people now
the skies are filled with smoke all summer now
Does God sleep?
Because I don't
